It’s not what you think

”It’s not what you think”, he mumbled. Hiding his face in his hands.
”Care to explain how it is then?” I was—I don’t know what I was—angry? Shocked? Hurt? Yes, definitely hurt, but mostly I felt hollow.

“Why are you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger? Why didn’t your secretary know who I was? She told me it was a shame a man like you hadn’t found the right woman to settle down with.”

Betrayed—I was pretty certain that’s how I felt. Hurt and betrayed.

“I love you.”

“But not enough?”

“Yes, enough! It’s just…”
