Have you seen my muse?

brainI don’t believe in a muse, not really. I think creativity and productivity have its ups and downs, but I’ve always been of the idea that I can always write. If I only tell myself to, I can write.

Some months I write a little, some months I write a lot. When I don’t write I’m miserable, and yet I have to force myself to get my arse in the chair, but I do it.

Usually, I make myself write 500 words. When I struggle, that’s my goal. Sit down, write 500 words. It doesn’t matter if those are 500 words are as crappy as can be, as long as I get them down, I’ve done my part. And once I’ve written those 500 words, it usually a lot easier to write the next day.

Now, I can’t seem to get anything down. I haven’t been to work for over a week, and since I work at a mushroom farm there is no working from home. So, I’m home without pay and without anything (ha!) to do. And yet, I can’t write.

My muse has fled.

Or it’s more that my mind is fractured. I can’t focus. I worry. I watch the news. I’ve never logged in on Facebook as often as I do now. I’m planting things, thinking what if there won’t be enough food in the shops. I don’t really think it will come to that, but every so often a what if is whispered in my mind.

And what if I don’t have a job to go back to once this is over?

My dream has always been to be a fulltime writer, but I’d hoped I’d at least make enough money to feed my children when I became one.

But, it is what it is. So what do you say, should we do 500 words? I have a guy tied to a flagpole at the roof of an apartment building. I should be able to get somewhere with that, right?

A – Z | Xavier: Gay Vampire Romance

Xavier by J.S. Morbius and J.D. Morgan

I like reading challenges. One of the reasons I’ve done the shelfaton in the M/M Romance Group on Goodreads a few times is because it gets me reading books I never would’ve read otherwise. I, for example, never browse for BDSM books, but by doing challenges I’ve read some I really like. That’s not always the case, though. The downside of reading challenges… I needed an X, and if I hadn’t needed an X, I would’ve quit this book a couple of pages in.

Harsh, yes, and normally I never would’ve written a blog post about it. Trashing books isn’t my thing. I believe there are readers for every book. A book I dislike, you might love and the other way around – that’s the beauty of books, is it not?

So what about Xavier? Yeah, I have this thing that drives me insane, and that is when the characters speak and throw in the name of the person they’re talking to…in every damn sentence. Now, I know this a pet peeve of mine, and some might not even notice it, but five pages in and I was ready to throw my phone through the window. I took a breather for a couple of days, before diving into the books again.

But never mind that. The story, I missed the point. I don’t mind skirting the edge of consent as long as we’re clear that’s what we’re doing. Stealing someone’s will, keeping them captive, and turning them into a vampire against their will is not a budding romance in my mind. And then it’s followed by love declarations. I mean, like, really? I would’ve staked the bastard, had it been me.

So up until 70% of the books, I was waiting for the ‘real’ love interested to show up. Turns out the MC and I weren’t on the same page LOL.

That’s enough of me being bitch, sorry. I got an X for my A-Z Title Challenge, so that’s great. And I didn’t mean to put you off the book. If you like vampires and a dark edge to your romance, then this might be perfect for you!

Xavier: Gay Vampire RomanceIsaac instantly becomes intrigued with a handsome man he notices across the room at the club. Turns out, this man has certainly noticed Isaac, and has been watching him the entire night. Too bad he’s disappeared before Isaac could make a move.

For the next few weeks the man seems show up everywhere Isaac is, constantly watching him. The more he sees the mysterious stranger, the deeper his interest becomes. Oddly, every time Isaac makes a move toward the mystifying stranger, he disappears from view, almost as if he were a ghost.

Xavier Kane has been searching for centuries for someone just like Isaac. Someone he could spend his life with, share his dreams with, and eventually, continue the bloodline. He sets off a little game of cat and mouse, designed to tempt Isaac into getting to know him. Xavier Kane isn’t an ordinary man, though, and he hides a big secret until the very end.

Will his deception be the end of Isaac and Xavier’s budding love, or will Isaac give in to the promises made for love eternal.

What does the future hold for Isaac and Xavier?

A – Z |Out for Delivery

Out for Delivery by J.M. Snyder. This is one of those stories that I’ve had in the library on my phone forever without reading, but since O still was open in my A-Z Title Challenge, I figured now is the time!

Do you remember a month or so ago when I read Pipe Dreams by J.M. Snyder and said it was a fantasy fit for porn…well, whaddya know? Here we have a pizza delivered to the wrong address. Classic! LOL

An awesome sexy short with likeable characters and an entertaining plot…or you know, that’s pretty much the plot, add some removal of clothes and a cramped car and you have it. But, if you have a few minutes over and are in the mood for a hot delivery guy with a lot of speeding tickets, then give it a go.

Out For DeliveryJeremy spends the last night of the weekend finishing an article he needs to submit to his editor first thing Monday morning. When someone knocks on his door, he’s tempted to ignore it but answers anyway, only to find a sexy delivery guy outside with something hot and ready in his hands.

Too bad Jeremy didn’t order the pizza — it belongs to his neighbors.

Still, he’s pleasantly surprised when the delivery guy returns to give Jeremy his number. Paul gets off work in a half hour, and wants to hook up, if Jeremy’s interested.

Suddenly Jeremy’s evening just got a hell of a lot better.
