Update | Cheers and Fireworks

typewriter-3711589_640I guess this will be the final update for the year. I started 2021 by saying I was gonna write 250.000 words, and I have. I reached my goal on November 11th 🥳

So far this year, I’ve written 270.463 words. I’m not saying they’ve all been good words because of course they haven’t, but I’ve written them. I’ve gone up early almost every morning this year to write – unless I’ve had to go to the dreaded day job. I’ve still gone up early, but instead of sitting in the quiet by my desk and making up worlds and adventures, I’ve killed my soul for money.  I’m sure there is a lesson there.

But now we’re here, and I will write in December too, but I’ve done what I set out to do. Everything from here on out is a bonus.

How are you doing with your goals? There is still time to reach them!

I’ll have a think about what my goals will be for next year. I have no idea what my work situation will look like, so I won’t plan anything outrageous LOL but it would be lovely if I could do a repeat. We’ll see 😊

It’s update time, people! I filled out my numbers over at Wordkeeperalpha – I used to have a year-long project at NaNoWriMo, but then they updated their site, and my numbers got messed up. The lovely A.L. Lester then told me about Wordkeeperalpha, and that’s where I’ve kept my words ever since 😄

Anyway, adding all my numbers since it’s been two weeks since I last did, it turned out I’m 98.95% done! My goal for 2021 is to write 250.000 words, and so far, I’ve written 247.368. So I need to write 2632 words. That’s it!

And guess who sent in her story to her lovely publisher last night and therefore is allowed to start a new story – moi!

I think I’ll reach my goal this week unless the dreaded day job messes everything up, but should I decide to drag this out, I only need to write 48 words per day till the end of the year to reach my goal.

How are you doing with your goals? There are still 54 days left of this year! Don’t give up 😊

Update | Taking a Deep Breath

Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine.

Update time! There’s been so much going on, I hardly know what I’m doing. September was the deadline month for both December and November stories, and since Holly planned on doing both, I was struggling a bit.

I made it! Holly will have 12 releases this year, one each month, and I have to say I’m quite pleased with myself. I did it, I never thought I’d be able to, but apparently, pandemics work great for getting more writing time.

During September, I wrote 26.315 words. It’s not bad for me, but I’ve had months when I’ve written a lot more. With the deadlines coming up, it’s not just words, though. Editing takes a long time, proofreading too, and I feel like I could sleep for a week now.

Sadly, I don’t have time for that. More deadlines are looming, and the dreaded day job is stealing more and more time.

So far this year, I’ve written 220.605 words, which has me 88.24% done. It means I have 29.395 words left to write. Should be doable. It’s less than 10k a month for the rest of the year. If I write every day till New Year’s Eve, I need to write 324 words per day.

It’s not how it works in my case, but it calms me to realise it’s so little I need to do.

I’ve just started a short story on the Naughty or Nice theme. The deadline is at the end of this month, so I better get cracking 😄
