Eight Feet of Magic Advent Calendar

December 1st, makes you wonder where this year went, doesn’t it? Right now the kids are in the kitchen making gingerbread cookies and I have saffron buns on the rise. Once they’re done we’ll have some glögg (like mulled wine but without any alcohol) and freshly made gingerbread cookies…or the kids will, I’ll just have the glögg, gluten is a bitch LOL. And this morning the kids opened their first presents in their advent calendars.

Do you like advent calendars?

Over at my facebook page, I will post a snipped of Eight Feet of Magic every day from now to Christmas Eve. The first post is already up. So hop on over there and read!

In the story, there is an advent calendar, a steampunk version of one, and Captain Elazar Steel is happy to share its content.

There will be a post every day at 6 a.m. (my time). Read it and share it with your friends if you think they’ll like it.

Happy December!

Eight Feet of Magic

There is still magic to be found. Even in the bleakest of places.

Hank Goodenough has spent his entire life in the smoggy streets of London trying to keep his head down and not to get noticed. Not an easy feat when you’re the tallest one in the room and have a brass funnel protruding from your head. When he finds himself laid off work once again, his dad wants to drag him away on a crazy quest. Before he can figure out how to get out of it, he finds himself on a steam-driven airship in search of Odin, the old Norse God, and is sharing a room with Captain Elazar Steel, a man strutting around on one high-heeled boot and one peg leg.

Steel doesn’t care that the winks, smiles, and small touches he and Hank share might get them hanged once they land on the ground again. He is determined to show Hank there is magic in the world and that there is no better place to be than on his balloon ship steering towards the Arctic Circle.

Vincent’s Thanksgiving Date

As you know, I’m in Sweden. We don’t have Thanksgiving. All I know about it is what I’ve seen on TV and read in books, fiction books – I would not read a nonfiction book about Thanksgiving, sorry.

But, I tried to find a Thanksgiving story and imagine my delight when I realised R. Cooper has written one – Vincent’s Thanksgiving Date. I’m crushing a little on Ms Cooper. I haven’t read all that many stories by her (three I think) but I love her characters.

In Vincent’s Thanksgiving Date we have Vincent, a writer with social anxiety issues. Now, I know there are writers without anxiety issues (I think? I mean, I know a few writers and some of them actually like (!) people, so they exist.) but Vin is a kindred spirit and he’d fit right in with my writing buds LOL.

Cory, one of Vin’s neighbours, overhears Vin having a conversation with his sister where she cancels their Thanksgiving plans. It doesn’t take long before Cory invites Vin to come to Thanksgiving dinner at his place, he just needs Vincent to help him out with a few things – like shopping and baking and stuff.

It’s really cute how Cory flirts and how Vin reacts to the attention. I loved that Cory is a florist, what’s better than the smell of flowers? I like both characters and Cory’s friends. An adorable little read, but if you’re looking for lots of sex and love declarations, this isn’t it. In the mood for something more subtle, check it out.

Vincent's Thanksgiving DateSocially anxious Vincent has resigned himself to spending Thanksgiving alone this year, just him, the parade, and some pie. The last thing he expects is Cory, the handsome neighbor he’s been daydreaming about, to knock on his door with a holiday crisis of his own. Vincent would love to help him, but he’s afraid that the more time Cory spends with him, the sooner Vincent’s anxiety will drive him away.

What he doesn’t realize is that Cory finds Vincent’s gentle ways adorable and has been waiting for a chance to talk with him. Cory also firmly believes that a day like Thanksgiving should be spent with the people you want to be around–and he wants to be around Vincent. If that means pretending to need help in order to coax Vincent from his apartment, then Cory is willing to do it. The only potential hitch in the plan is Vincent himself. Can Vincent gather the courage to go after what he wants? Or will he spend his Thanksgiving exactly as he planned, with only a pumpkin pie for company?

Cover Reveal | Turning Wood

turning woodGuess what I have… This is the cover of Turning Wood a short little Christmas story that will be released on the 14th of December.

Have you read my Nortown stories? This isn’t a Nortown story, but some things mentioned in the Nortown stories are present here as well. I thought I’d be fun to write something similar to Nortown and the more I wrote the more I slipped into that familiar world. I have yet to decide if I should make a series or not, for now, it’s just this one story.

Pretty cover, isn’t it? I’m in love at least LOL.

For Otho Newcomer, the small village of Snowmelt is a haven from his old life. If he’s not exactly a changed man, he at least hopes to keep his distance from all those easy romances, and the inevitable heartache and disappointment that have always followed.

Mason Dager is an idiot. His ex has cleared out his bank account, sold his car and gotten him thrown out of his apartment. And he has no one to blame but himself. But what better way to celebrate a new chapter in his life—one that includes homelessness and the humiliation of telling his family they were right all along—than to spend Christmas at a swanky winter resort like River Cove? It’s already paid for after all.

When a very drunk Mason makes yet another dumb decision, Otho comes to the rescue, throwing the two men together during the most magical time of the year.

What should be the wrong choice for both of them, might be exactly what they need. They’ll just have to survive a nosy best friend, an asshole of an ex, and the scars of their pasts.
