Quarantine Reading

I was trying to come up with a good word on Q to have a headline of alliterations (Swedish is a germanic language, the early verses of the germanic languages were built on alliterations and repetition, and I might not have worked as a teacher for the last ten years, but deep down I’m still a Swedish teacher who finds history of language interesting.) but Quotable Quality Quarantine Reading didn’t seem like a good idea. And While Quiddich works with most things, Quarantine isn’t one of them….or, maybe it is LOL.

Ok, enough with the craziness! JMS-Books is running another giveaway. These are hard times, and we all need something to distract us with, therefore several authors have come together to offer you a whole bunch of titles that will be free for the rest of the week.

You’ll find all the titles here!

This time around, I’m giving away Jaeger’s Lost and Found. I loved writing it so much! It’s a paranormal little tale of 28k words. It has a vampire about to die, and finder who’s, reluctantly, trying to help him.

You’ll find an excerpt here.

Thunder and rain at Jaeger's Lost & Found

Jaeger’s Lost & Found is the only finder shop to be had on the whole of the west coast. The problem is, Archibald Jaeger, the last of the Jaeger line, seems to be defective. A result of too many generations of crossbreeding with humans. But Jaegers are finders, and there’s nothing to be done about it.

Gael Murray has lost his connections. A vampire can’t survive without the energy exchange he has with the members of his coven through mental links. And, as of this morning, they’ve all vanished. Gael will die if he doesn’t reinstate his connections through a blood exchange. And his only hope to find the other members of his coven is to hire a finder.

Even a terrible finder is better than no finder at all.

Together they set out to save Gael’s life, but what was an already difficult task becomes nearly insurmountable. And Archie, who can never find what he’s looking for, finds himself falling in love with a man he’ll be hard pressed to save.

Get to know the woman behind the Cold Fingers Series

A couple of days ago we got to meet Neptune Flowers, today it’s Amy Spector’s turn to Ruby Shoesguest my blog. Amy and I have talked daily for about four years time now.  We met through Beaten Track Publishing. We were both part of the Boughs of Evergreen anthology, and while we didn’t talk a lot during the process of writing it, we both latched on to Al Stewart. And later on Amy asked Al if he wanted to do a horror project with her and Al said she should ask me, and that’s how it all started.

Buried Desires was born, and the plan was for it be three stories. Al, Amy and I each started writing but life got in the way as it often does and Al was unable to finish his story. So Buried Desires #1 became a double feature.

The year after Amy and I wrote Buried Desires #2, and then last year life got in the way again, and there were no Buried Desires #3. This year there is, though. And this year we have three stories since we managed to persuade Neptune Flowers to join us.

But, just because I talk to Amy every day doesn’t mean you know her as well as I do. So here’s your chance to catch up. Once you’ve heard what she has to say you know everything there is to know about Amy Spector, the woman who brings people back from the dead.

Thank you for coming, Amy!

On October 10th Pretty Plastic (Cold Finger #3) will be released and if you haven’t read Amy’s Cold Fingers series, I suggest you get right to it because it’s awesome. If you’re a fan of classic horror, you should definitely read it, and if you’re not, you can read it as a paranormal series.

I love the Cold Fingers books, I love the perfect mix of funny and creepy. Christopher Minnick used to have an antique shop, but now he doesn’t really have anything except his boyfriend Victor Polidori, his brother, and a few friends…

Amy writes the best secondary characters. While you have to love Grant, Christopher’s friend and former colleague, no one beats Flora, Vic’s mother, in my opinion. Flora is a crazy old lady with a thing for tasty young men LOL.

Don’t miss this series!

Visit Amy on her website or find her on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Bookbub or wherever you like to hang.

Pretty_Plastic.gifChristopher Minnick is still not a zombie.

Three months after his run-in with the vampire Marcus Gråsson, Christopher’s ankle has healed but his life is anything but perfect. There are people watching the house. Flora’s worried about the scarecrow. And after an unexpected tragedy strikes, Christopher will need to figure out how to deal with the loss without tearing a rift between his brother and himself.

When Victor accepts a job with Pretty, a prestigious private hospital, to work alongside the handsome Austen Poole, Christopher ends up with one more thing to worry about. While it might seem like a dream job, there’s something not quite right in paradise, and when Vic starts acting strangely, Christopher will stop at nothing to get his man back.

When striving for perfection, you sometimes need to get your hands a little dirty.

Worth His Salt – A Ghost Story

I thought it would be fun to start 2018 with a book release, so today Worth His Salt – A Ghost Story (Tattooed Corpse Stories #2) is available to the world!

Book Cover Pink Slip by Amy SpectorThe Tattooed Corpse Series is a series of short stories that have nothing in common except that there at some point during the story will appear a body, the same body as in the previous stories and it has a snake tattoo on its forearm… These stories vary in genre and length (though they’ll all be pretty short) and the characters have nothing to do with each other – it is as it says on the cover ‘Different Time. Different Place. Same Body.’

I love being a writer, I love creating my own worlds, but sometimes you’re the only one in that world – apart from your characters, of course. Therefore it’s fun to take part in something that’s bigger than your own stuff, or at least I think so. We haven’t decided on how many stories there will be in the series but Amy Spector wrote the first one, Pink Slip – A Halloween Romance and now it’s time for Worth His Salt – A Ghost Story.

Worth His Salt is a paranormal little tale about Eldred Henstare, a not so powerful witch, and Mo Vin, a man living next to an abandoned lighthouse.

Two and a half year ago we bought a house in Småland, Sweden (Where Astrid Lindgren came from if you’ve read Pippi Longstocking or any of her other stories), and it’s lovely. I don’t regret moving here but, and that’s a big but, there is no sea.

I grew up on the west coast, I walked along the coastline every day with my dogs, I come from a long line of fishermen, maritime pilots, and lighthouse keepers. When I was a kid my dad use to take me to the ruins of a house on the cliffs where his grandparents used to live. My great-grandfather was manning the pilot look-out tower when it still was in use. It’s high up on the cliffs, the fall down is several metres and they lived there, far away from any civilization and it was even farther back then, with their children. I would worry myself to death, but I guess it was different times back then.

Anyway, I wanted to write a lighthouse story, so I did. There is nothing that fills you with such awe as seeing the sea, dark and grey when a storm is brewing.

Eldred Henstare is a not so powerful witch who’s been left in charge of helping the city’s lingering spirits to move on. He usually handles it pretty well, but something’s wrong with the spirit leading him to the abandoned lighthouse.

Mo Vin likes his quiet life in the cottage next to the lighthouse, at least it’s quiet until one night when Eldred Henstare—young, beautiful and crazy—arrives. After that night things aren’t the same. A man is found dead on the beach outside Mo’s cottage, and he’s almost sure he’s the one who killed him, except it doesn’t make sense. Why would he kill anyone?

Eldred needs to get rid of the ghost haunting Mo. If he doesn’t Mo’s life is in danger, but to do it he needs both Mo and his brother Lachtin to help out.
