Autumn Books | Ofelia Gränd

Autumn is here!

Autumn is my favourite season by far, and you can tell by the number of books I’ve written that takes place during autumn. It’s the cold, the colours, the snuggling up indoors with a cup of something warm and some lit candles.

There is nothing better!

autumn-3193305_640 (1)So, if you want to read something fitting the season, these are my autumn books.

Click the title and you’ll come to a page with an excerpt.

Once Around Seven (Nortown #5) – A hurt-comfort/coming out story taking place in Nortown.

The Maddest of Men – A post-apocalyptic tale where some people have developed supernatural skill. Grayham is the son of a mob leader and Creed is a police officer.

The Lords of Lettuce– Starts where The Maddest of Men left off and we get to follow Creed and Grayham through a society that’s falling apart.

Deadly Sugar– Ah…horror. We have a man who likes to keep his men in a root cellar.

Deadly Lies – More death and cruelty in the root cellar LOL

Worth His Salt – Eldred Henstare – the not so powerful wizard in charge of chasing away ghosts from the city learns that Mo Vin has a ghost in his lighthouse.

Pine Tree Mary – A pine tree mary is a forest creature from the Scandinavian folklore, and Hush is one. Detective Quinn Manning never believed they existed.

Falling Through – Ghosts! Travis is at the end of his rope, he’s out of luck and out of money. Larry, on the other hand, hasn’t been this entertained since he died. Finally someone interesting lives in his apartment.

Knickers in a Twist – First story I ever wrote in English. It’s a DRitC story about a guy who likes a little lace and satin in his underwear.

Jaeger’s Lost and Found – Vampires and finders. I meant to make this a series… I love the old bookshop Archie lives in and the constant rain falling on the windows.

Black Bird – This is one of those mate-or-die stories. Arlo is on the run, Nash isn’t willing to let him go.

And there will be more autumn stories in future!

A – Z | Roaming Canisters

Roaming Canisters by Adrian Fridge

An R! Not many letters left now before I’m done with my A-Z Title Challenge. And this time I made sure I needed an R before I started reading LOL.

I was in the mood for some sci-fi, but I wanted something short, so I took a chance.  I actually read the blurb this time, I usually don’t, but I ended up with a story I didn’t see coming anyway.

We have a guy on his way to mars. He’s suddenly hijacked by aliens and is put through some medical exams. He learns the aliens have been around us for a long time, but have blocked us from seeing them.

It’s not too bad, they might look a bit like lizards, but Dr. Waters still has the hots for his captor.

I liked it! We have humans and aliens and the difference between them, and then there is a war looming. A nice, short sci-fi story.

Roaming CanistersDr. Eugene Waters is the engineer on board the first trip to settle Mars. The success of the mission is jeopardized when his ship is hijacked by an alien station. Thus the future of mankind is questioned, as is the future of Water’s sex life.

Up North | Quinny, Focus!

Coffee

It’s time to introduce Quincy Dean –  William Johnson too, but this story is told from Quincy’s point of view. It’s not how I usually write, but this story was written for an in-house call about dating during social distancing, and the stories should be between 5 and 12k. Now, I usually don’t have a problem writing short stories in dual pov, but I was struggling to find William’s voice and complained about it to my morning writing buddies, and they suggested telling the story through Quincy alone.

So I did.

I’ll do a post later on with a scene from Will’s pov that I cut when I decided to give Quinny free rein.

So, Quincy Dean… My dear Quinny (Stop calling me that!) isn’t the most aware guy you’ll ever meet. In two seconds flat, he’s created a perfect picture of the world, and it takes a lot to get him to see it in a different light. He has a very patient best friend who tries to make him see reason without much success.

William Johnson moved to Whiteport for a job, but with the pandemic hitting, he finds himself with nothing to do during lockdown. When a guy named Quincy begins talking to him online, he finally has something to do, and he loves chatting with Quincy over a cup of tea. Everything goes perfectly until Quincy asks him out on a date.

Quincy Dean William Johnson

This story was so much fun to write!

quinnyfocus

Quincy Dean is one lucky guy. After months of virtual flirting, he’s convinced the man of his dreams is living next door. True, they’ve never spoken face-to-face, and William Johnson has never posted a picture of himself, but how many William Johnson’s could there be?

Quincy is positive the two of them would be great together. But if he’s ever going to get the chance to convince Will of that fact, he’s going to need to do it before his perfect man figures out he’s too good for Quincy’s little corner of Whiteport and disappears from his real life forever.

But how do you woo someone when you have to stay six feet apart? Direct messages are great, but they aren’t very romantic. And when Quincy begins to notice that Will’s messages don’t always match up with what he’s seeing through his blinds, he worries that even online he and his dream guy are drifting apart. Six feet or not, it might be time to ask Will out on a date.
