Now…see how I never read blurbs. I had this in kindle library, read the title, and figured yeah I could do with some werewolf smut. I do like me some werewolf smut now and then. I was also sure I needed an M for my A-Z Title Challenge, so it would be to kill two birds with one stone.

Make that zero birds with a gazillion stones.

I don’t mind, I really don’t. I sat on the sofa, had a glass of wine and some chocolate, and I read a story beginning with an M when I, in fact, already had a story with an M. And it wasn’t werewolf smut, it was vampire smut, which I would’ve realized if I’d read the blurb LOL.

It doesn’t matter, this is a paranormal hurt-comfort story. Jeremy has escaped an abusive ex, but then a storm hits, and he’s rescued by a vampire. That vampire happens to be his mate, something the vampire knows and understand withing seconds of meeting him, but Jeremy only has heard of.

Jeremy slowly lets Donnie, the vampire, in, but nothing ever easy, is it?

A solid paranormal read.

Like every other day, my alarm went off at 05:40 this morning. I stumbled out of bed, to say I got properly dressed would probably be a lie, but I put on pants and threw on a hoodie over the T-shirt I’d slept in. In the kitchen, I put on the coffee – a skill I have perfected over the years is putting on coffee while still mostly asleep. I then called the dog, and together we stumbled out to the hens to let them out.

I walked in again, a bit more awake now since I’d been outdoors, and poured some yoghurt into a bowl and checked my email while eating. Do you know what I found in the inbox? A cover!!!

Back in June, J.M. Snyder sent out an in-house submission call for Love in the Age of Social Distancing asking for 5-12k stories about dating during the pandemic. I thought it could be fun, so I said I’d write one.

Quincy is not the most lovable character (though I love him), not because he’s mean in any way, he’s just…well, he isn’t always focusing on the right things. It’s an Up North story, so a contemporary, standalone, M/M romance.

Your Cover’s Blown by Shinju Yuri

It’s surprisingly hard to find books starting with a Y. You’d think there be a lot of titles starting with some for of You, and there are some, but not as many as you’d think.

So I went searching, and I wanted something short, something I could finish in one go despite having the kids running around me.

Have you checked out Shousetsu Bang*Bang? It’s A Webzine for Original Queer Fiction and Art. I’ve read a couple of stories from there before, and when I saw that there was a short steampunk story starting with a Y, I figured it was meant to be.

Every time I read steampunk, I’m thinking I should read more steampunk. Something about the steam and the mad scientists get me going LOL. Your Cover’s Blown has an inventor called Walter who forgets to eat and sleep once he’s working on something. Frederick, on the other hand, is rather sly and steals things to get back as the people who ruined his father’s company.

Walter takes one look at Frederick and thinks about well-oiled machinery LOL. This is totally worth an aww. Super cute, and I loved Walter. I suffer from an aversion to speech tags, though, and there were a few times it got to be too much for me, but Walter made up for it.
